Did you know that in addition to fried food, that foods like grains, cookies, toast, and even coffee can accelerate the aging process if you cook them at high temperature, or if you reheat them.  What’s worse, they could even be a cause to serious conditions like cancer, even though they may seem harmless.

Young woman doing self massageAccording to scientists at the National Academy of Pharmacy in France, foods that are rich in starches, like: potatoes, coffee, and grains, produce toxic elements when subjected to temperatures higher than 120 degrees, which are responsible for the damage we talked about earlier.

The basis of study on toast and other foods

The base of these statements was also found by expert Biologist at the University of Lille 2, Eric Boulanger.  This scientist states that the high temperatures caused by the process known as advanced glycation or “AGE” in the aforementioned foods is harmful when consumed.

We’re not just talking about coffee, however.  Grains or crackers are harmful as well, along with toasted bread, that you probably eat along with your delicious coffee mid-afternoon.  So are highly cooked french fries.

How to recognize these foods

It’s not hard to recognize these foods.  Cooking foods at higher than 120 degrees C leaves evidence in the way it looks, like a dark or burnt color, or excessively golden color.  Once you see this, it’s best not to eat it, because you can be almost 100% sure that it’s made of acrylamide.  This compound is a proven carcinogen and neurotoxin for cells and for animals as well.

Cancer and bad memory

Not only could this lead to diseases like cancer or cellular aging, but consuming these foods, like toast, could also cause memory problems, according to studies from the United States.  These symptoms could be just as severe as those experienced by Alzheimer’s patients.

That’s why scientist Boulanger has made the relationship between foods that are re-cooked at high temperatures, with cellular and arterial aging; which is vascular aging.

What’s the solution?

One of the healthiest propositions that specialists advise is that you steam your foods with water, or even cook them in the microwave or grill them.

Chronic gastritis

Stomach cancer is one of the most highly feared diseases.  It can be caused by the foods you eat, after having been prepared at high temperatures or in reheated oil.  This could also create chronic gastritis, which could even lead to an ulcer.

This is because if you cook your foods in oil and then the oil has burned, or looks dark golden in color, acrylamide is likely present.  This compound is a carcinogen and is harmful to the body.

Heart problems

The worst part is that this can even affect the heart.  Burnt or reheated oil also creates trans fat, which affects the cardiovascular system and caused the blood to coagulate.

Healthy food

As always, we recommend that you choose healthy food over junk food.  Eat vegetable and grain fiber, not always fatty meats, fried food, or foods rich in sugar.

If you need to fry something, do so with a little oil but do not cook at high temperatures.  If you used too much oil and you still have more meat to cook, it’s best not to reuse the oil.  Throw out the reheated oil and exchange it for new oil.  You’ll notice that once your oil turns brown, or a dark gold color, or has dark spots in it, you should not reuse it.

Olive oil

You can also fry with extra virgin olive oil, which is healthier than soy.  Be that as it may, do not overheat it.  Cook with it on low temperatures, and also do not reuse it for a lot of different fried foods.  The mistake that a lot of people make is that they use their oil over and over again, filling it with acrylamide, nitrites and benzenes.

Drink a lot of water

If you want to stay looking young, and if you want to be a healthy person, we recommend that you drink a lot of water to stay hydrated.  This will help cleanse your body and eliminate toxins.

Sacha inchi

Speaking of oils, in addition to olive oil, sacha inchi is another very healthy oil.  It comes from the Peruvian Amazons, it is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, up to 93.6%.

It is also rich in Omega 3’s, Omega 6’s, and Omega 9’s.  It’s also low in saturated fatty acids.

If you suffer from high cholesterol, you could drink a tablespoon of this oil everyday before breakfast, which will help you lower your cholesterol, making you feel much healthier.  You could also use it in your salads or like butter for spreading.

It also strengthens the heart and helps keep blood pressure stable.  It prevents constipation and prevents colon cancer and strengthens the immune system.
