(See part one by following this link: “Enzymes: the Secret Door to Youth“.)

In the first part of this article, we talked about the importance of enzymes in health, and most of all, in the youth of organs and tissues.  We talked about how important they are for a long list of basic bodily functions, and how raw foods contain the greatest amount of rejuvenating enzymes for the body.  Cooking foods destroys enzymes and leaves just a small portion of food with very little nutritional value. The enzymatic power of fermented foods

Enzymes and Fermented Foods

So today we are going to talk about yet another secret that contains these powerful substances.  The word enzyme comes from the Greek word “enzymos”, which means fermented.  For several years now, man has known that fermented foods provide a sense of unique youth and health.  Fermented foods are raw foods that break down, forming a type of natural acid in foods which are said to be “hospitable” for enzymes.

This simple process of fermentation leads to the creation of countless food enzymes, amplifying their strength in the body.  In a not so distant past, humans fermented foods to keep them fresh naturally.  Consuming them in this state provides an individual with health and prolonged and pronounced youth.  In some way or another, they knew the strength that fermented foods possessed, and they based their diets of raw and fermented foods.  Certain raw foods are fantastic for creating rejuventating enzymes in the body, such as:

  • Broccoli
  • Pineapple
  • Grapes
  • Aloe
  • Plums
  • Blueberries and red berries, like cherries, strawberries, etc.
  • Papaya
  • Celery
  • Apples
  • Cabbage
  • Citrus fruits: oranges, lemons, grapefruit and mandarins

In order to take advantage of these foods, eat acidic fruit in the morning before breakfast, like fresh pineapple juice, daily.  this is a wonderful remedy for countless diseases and for rejuvenating skin and healing kidneys.  Fresh, recently pressed apple juice should be drank in the afternoon, which is perfect for healing a lot of stomach and intestinal diseases, along with healing the skin.  Fresh vegetable juices at midday are great for this as well.  Do not sweeten your juice with anything.  They should be drank fresh, in their most natural state.  Generally, a diet based on grapes, pineapple or papaya is great for curing practically any disease.  Remember that food absorption is very important, which is why you should avoid mixing fruit with other foods.  Fruits should be eaten by themselves, on an empty stomach, and citrus or acidic fruit should be eaten preferably before breakfast.  Wait 20 minutes for your fruit to digest before eating any other food.  Vegetables should be eaten in salads or juiced, without any dressing.  The best dressing consists of lemon, salt, and extra-virgin olive oil.

How to take advantage of fermented foods

Foods can be fermented at home, or you can buy them pre-made in specialized stores that sell natural or healthy products.  You should choose the food that provides the greatest amount of enzymes, and which ferments the best.  There are a few foods that we should mention that are very powerful youth elixirs, like whey butter, milk whey, fermented cabbage juice, cabbage, fermented grape juice (red wine), as well as tepache (a Mexican drink made from fermented vegetables).  These are all fantastic sources of enzymes to help rejuvenate and maintain health.  Fermented milk whey, for example, send enzymes from within the stomach and intestines to be broken down by lactose (milk sugar), creating lactic acid.  These lactic acids then cleanse the colon, sending minerals for the process of nutrient absorption.  These lactose enzymes nourish the small and large intestine, and create very healthy lactic acids for the body.  This creates a very unpleasant environment for the formation of putrefied bacteria, or things that cause disease, in the colon.  This makes the body eliminate them quickly.

Yogurt, Kefir and Bulgarian food

Yogurt is one of the healthiest foods around, along with kefir and Bulgarian foods.  A lot of people consider these foods to be “miracle” foods, because they possess truly amazing functions for the intestines.  The intestines are in charge of eliminating a large amount of harmful substances and toxic waste, which creates a harmful environment that the body cannot survive.  We should also mention that if the intestines are healthy, one will experience practically no disease.  The intestines perform important absorption processes, absorbing nutrients.  Kefir, yogurt and milk help the intestines to absorb and get rid of things effectively.

You do not need cow’s milk to make milk whey.  This can be done with yogurt with a very simple homemade method.  Kefir or Bulgarian foods can also be made without cow’s milk, and kefir water is also great for health.
