Everyone has worried at some point about hair loss, especially after experiencing a few moments of unusual hair loss. This is what then makes us think about ways to prevent it.
The good news is that if you start with enough time in advance, you can prevent hair loss, or prevent it from worsening.
Reasons that your hair may fall out
Whenever your hair starts to fall out, your first response may be to think “I’m going bald”. You think this is the reason, but yet there are lots of reasons your hair may fall out:
- A nutrient-deficient diet
- Chemical use on hair, be it to change your hair color or even your hair’s natural characteristics (straightening)
- Hormone imbalances
- Some medications are thought to cause hair loss
- Dandruff
- Baldness or alopecia
- Stress
It’s important that you know what is causing your hair loss, to thereby choose the best way to fight it.
Choosing a healthy lifestyle
Just like skin and nails, hair reflects healthier. If you are healthy, your hair will show it and will look good. If, on the other hand, your hair falls out or looks weak, this could be a symptom of disease.
Lack of vitamins, like B vitamins, and minerals, like calcium, zinc and iron, are often times at the cause of hair loss. That’s why we advise taking up a healthy and balanced diet.
Keep your hair clean
It is important that you have good hygiene. Dirty hair is more likely to fall out, which is why we recommend washing it regularly, with appropriate products. It’s always a good idea to use products that are appropriate for your hair, and that you apply them as advised. For example, when using conditioner it’s best to apply it only to the ends of your hair.
Avoid hair damage
A lot of the instruments we use to brush and shape our hair can actually damage it. They dry it out and weaken hair. Using blow driers, curling irons, flat irons, etc., can damage hair health. We recommend that you stop drying your hair, at least half of the time.

Sometimes even certain types of hair styles, that pull too tight on hair, could weaken it. This includes the habitual use of hats.
Brushing your hair when it is wet can also damage it, pulling and breaking the strands.
Chemical treatments that modify hair, like dyes, perms, straightening treatments, are also factors that could lead to hair loss. It’s best to treat your hair delicately, which is to say, avoid pulling it, and avoid using chemicals or machines that could damage it.
Home remedies for healthier dark hair
To give strength and shine: Make a henna paste with fenugreek (the plant), hibiscus flowers, and an egg. Apply to your scalp with a gentle massage, and allow it to set for one hour before washing. Rinse your hair well. This remedy should be applied regularly for best results, although we only recommend it for dark hair. The henna could dye your hair with reddish tints.
