It’s pretty obvious when someone has oily skin, and it easily traps impurities and dirt from the environment.  This tends to lead to abused skin.  It is characterized by having excessive sebum secretions, which is an oil that the skin needs in order to stay healthy and moisturized.

Oily Skin: 7 simple Homemade SolutionsAcne, skin marks, and even black heads can be caused by oily skin.  Some masks can help improve the way your skin looks, while also improving the oil on your skin.  Generally it’s the “T” area that is afected by the oil, which consists of the forehead, the nose and the chin.

Oily skin

Skin in general needs to be moisturized.  In fact, it needs oil.  Not only does it moisturize, but it also helps protect against contaminating agents from the environment.  Whenever the skin produces too much oil, however, this could cause certain consequences like acne and a shiny face.

Mask recipes

1. Garbanzo flour mask

This mask is useful for eliminating impurities and it also cleans off dead skin cells, acting as a special natural exfoliant for oily skin types.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp. garbanzo flour
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 3 Tbsp milk
  • 3 Tbsp water

Directions:

Mix all ingredients into a uniform paste.  Apply to your face and allow to set for 20 minutes.  Remove with warm water.

2. Bentonite clay mask

Bentonite clay is a wonderfully effective cleanser, useful for treating acne and pimples.  Continual use can also prevent future acne outbreaks.  That’s why this is a natural ingredient that can remove extra oil for oily skin.

This mask helps clean the face, eliminating excess oil, improves blood circulation, and removes excess dead skin cells.  Avoid using it more than two or three times a week, and try to use it at night because the lemon juice could stain your face if exposed to the sun.

3. Fruit mask

Some fruits can be beneficial for oily skin in a lot of ways.  Some of these fruits include lemons, oranges, papaya, and grapefruit.

These fruits are all rich in vitamin C and have beneficial astringent properties for oily skin.  The natural astringents in these fruits help to close pores, thereby reducing oil secretion.  This makes the skin look cleaner.  In order to take advantage of these fruits, include them as ingredients in your masks.

4. Tomato mask for reducing pore size

Tomatoes are an effective ingredient for managing oily skin.  They help dissolve extra skin oil, thereby reducing the size of pores, thanks to their astringent properties.

Make a tomato pure by mashing tomatoes up.  Apply it to the face for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.  Apply this mask up to 3 times a week to keep your skin healthy, tones, and acne-free.

7. Lemon juice for controlling oily skin

Lemon juice can irritate skin, but for oily skin, this can be very beneficial.  Just like tomatoes and papaya, lemon is rich in vitamin C.  This is perfect for oily skin.  Their components also help whiten skin.

Lemon can be added in small drops to any acne mask, or masks for oily skin.  Lemon juice is useful for people that suffer from acne, pimples, black head and oily skin, giving them a fresh and clean look.

You could also apply a few drops of fresh lemon juice to clean extra oil away, but it’s important to remember that lemon juice should always be used at night, or whenever you’re not going to expose your skin to the sun.  This can leave marks cause by a reaction with the acids.

6. Orange peels to fight shine

Orange peels make a very well known remedy for fighting oily skin on the face.  Dry the orange peel in the shade.  Once dried, crush it up into a powder and mix with a bit of milk.  Apply the mask and allow to dry, for about 10 minutes.  Then rinse with warm water.

7. Papaya for eliminating excess oil

Although papaya is adaptable to all skin types, oily skin is the most benefited.  Use a few slices of papaya to create a pure.  Add a few drops of lemon juice and apply it to your face and neck.  Allow to set on your skin for 15 minutes before rinsing.

The enzymes in papaya help to exfoliate skin and are even recommended for people that have acne and acne scars.  Regularly using a papaya mask on your face will lead to younger skin, less wrinkles, and less dead skin cells.
