Cannabis is a plant full of secrets, secrets that take the form of compounds known as cannabinoids and form a group of no less than 113 substances. One of them, cannabidol, is today on the lips of all those who care about their health, and it does not stop demonstrating the many applications it has to care for the body and mind (1).

Safety of CBD consumption

The psychotropic effects related to cannabis use should not be confused with the properties of CBD. The former are due to THC, a cannabinoid present in the plant, but not in CBD solutions.

CBD does not represent any risk at psychic or physical activity levels. On the contrary, it is being applied more and more effectively to pathologies of all kinds, which is what we want to address here.

As the WHO itself has already stated on several occasions, CBD does not present a risk of addiction or other problems derived from the consumption of prohibited substances, a confirmation that has only increased expectations about the curative possibilities that the compound has shown to have (2).

Before finishing this section, we only have to tell you that CBD is mostly extracted from hemp and must be obtained by natural methods so as not to alter its properties.

Ways to consume CBD

We’re going to be here very soon. The reason is that the consumption of CBD must always be done correctly according to the product you buy. It can be a cream with CBD for topical use or infusions with CBD.

However, the most popular is to consume this oil by diluting a few drops in water or placing them directly inside the mouth. The image of smoking marijuana that is normally associated with cannabis is far from clear.

What is CBD for?

It is now time to analyze those pathologies in which CBD has been shown to be a tool for their treatment. The first studies showed that hemp oil was a first-rate anticonvulsant, so it began to be used in diseases with this symptom (3).

In addition, the consumption of CBD is beginning to give results in treatments against hypertension (4).  This is one of the ills that plague today’s societies, so it will be one of the ways that CBD will increase its list of diseases that it can fight (5).

On the other hand, psychic pathologies also enter the list of those that CBD can fight. Patients with anxiety, depression or personality disorders have reported feeling better with long-term CBD treatments without the need to rely on other active ingredients other than CBD (6, 7, 8, 9).

It still has some way to go, but it seems that CBD has been hidden until now it has begun to show itself as a natural and effective solution to fight many diseases.
